Summary

Two sisters。

One brutal murder。

A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…

And an intoxicating romance。

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe—witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution。 One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant。 Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin… desecrated beyond belief。 Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost—even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden。

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked Princes of Hell that she has been warned against in tales since she was a child。 Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island。 But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

OH。 MY。 GOODNESS。 If you haven't read this book, you NEED to immediately。 The best witch story I've read in a while! Love and magic were a part of the story but never eclipsed the mystery of it in a way that kept me reading until the end。 I am sorely upset that I don't immediately have the second book to continue the series 😭 OH。 MY。 GOODNESS。 If you haven't read this book, you NEED to immediately。 The best witch story I've read in a while! 2。5 I really wanted to like this book and sometimes did but mostly I was distracted by not being able to tell if we're in the present it the past and why the MC decided to trust the characters her entire upbringing had taught her not to trust and why she never asks her abundance of witchy friends and relatives for help or advice and always believes the people she knowwwsssss are lying etc etc。 2。5 I really wanted to like this book and sometimes did but mostly I was distracted by not being able to tell if we're in the present it the past and why the MC decided to trust the characters her entire upbringing had taught her not to trust and why she never asks her abundance of witchy friends and relatives for help or advice and always believes the people she knowwwsssss are lying etc etc。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I read the first 80 pages of this book, stopped for a week, and then finished the rest in one night。 This book is certainly filled with plenty of twists and turns, and that’s both what made it so good and also somewhat disappointing at times。 Spoilers ahead!!!Major spoilers!! Ok so cons first。 I really liked this book, but there were some things I struggled with。 I saw the Antonio twist coming like 1/3 of the way into the book。 He was introduced as this love interest that could never be and I kn I read the first 80 pages of this book, stopped for a week, and then finished the rest in one night。 This book is certainly filled with plenty of twists and turns, and that’s both what made it so good and also somewhat disappointing at times。 Spoilers ahead!!!Major spoilers!! Everything from the food to the family dynamics really stood out to me and I loved it。 I found the princes we met to be very engaging characters and I of course enjoyed Wrath。 Emilia’s grandma was really a stand out character for me and I ended up really appreciating her even though we really didn’t have that much focus on her。 I liked the message within their shared plot too。 The idea that hiding things from people isn’t always the best route to protect them。 So much could have been avoided if Emilia knew everything her grandma knew from the beginning。 It was definitely a page turner at the end, even though I felt as if I had the general “whodunnit” question figured out pretty fast。 And there were a few scenes in this book that definitely gave me the chills。 Overall, it was a good read and while it frustrated me at times, that isn’t enough to keep me from reading the next one。 。。。more

3。5 really。。。。I really liked the book。。。。it was moody, dark, Italian。。。。very atmospheric。 Emilia is cool but she jumps to conclusions and can be a damn pain in the ass。 My favorite character was Wrath。。。and Lust was intriguing, i'm hoping he is in the next novel 😉The ending left me with mad questions。。。enough so that I pre-ordered the next book。 Actually the whole book leaves me with too many questions。。。there is some background info missing and I hope in the next book we can fill in some of the 3。5 really。。。。I really liked the book。。。。it was moody, dark, Italian。。。。very atmospheric。 Emilia is cool but she jumps to conclusions and can be a damn pain in the ass。 My favorite character was Wrath。。。and Lust was intriguing, i'm hoping he is in the next novel 😉The ending left me with mad questions。。。enough so that I pre-ordered the next book。 Actually the whole book leaves me with too many questions。。。there is some background info missing and I hope in the next book we can fill in some of these blanks。 I like the witch elements。。very on point。 I want to give it 4 stars due to the entertainment value, but that ending is irking me。 。。。more

To find her twin's murderer, Emilia delves into dark magic and unknowingly summons, Wrath, one of the Princes of Hell and binds him to her。 Danger lurks around every corner and as she learns more about her lineage and the dark magic surrounding her, she realizes that she cannot fully trust the stories of her youth。I almost famously despised Stalking Jack the Ripper, but this book got so much hype that I was willing to check it out。 I'm happy that I did because I was drawn in pretty quickly。 Ther To find her twin's murderer, Emilia delves into dark magic and unknowingly summons, Wrath, one of the Princes of Hell and binds him to her。 Danger lurks around every corner and as she learns more about her lineage and the dark magic surrounding her, she realizes that she cannot fully trust the stories of her youth。I almost famously despised Stalking Jack the Ripper, but this book got so much hype that I was willing to check it out。 I'm happy that I did because I was drawn in pretty quickly。 There weren't any of the problematic elements that I had seen in the SJtR series, namely the "not like other girls-ness" of the main character。 I don't really have any complaints other than this book made me so hungry。 There was so much talk of food that I was almost suffering。 I'm going to have to go find myself some marzipan。 Still, the tension between Emilia and Wrath was delicious and learning that the next book is geared more towards New Adult and less YA makes me want to read it that much more。 I did dock a star because like with SJtR, the mystery was pretty obvious from the beginning and plot twists and revelations were all too predictable。 I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't nearly spoon fed to me。 Honestly, the banter between Emilia and Wrath carried most of the book for me。 。。。more

This had a good premise and I was excited to read it。 It just didn’t capture me the way I had hoped it would。 I couldn’t connect with Emilia。 She made dumb, rash decisions and and didn’t question things in a way that made sense。 I couldn’t cheer for her because she wasn’t likable or relatable。 I wanted so much more from her and wrath, and it never happened, and what little did seemed way too forced and even a little random。 The writing and descriptions we great though。 I didn’t love this story, This had a good premise and I was excited to read it。 It just didn’t capture me the way I had hoped it would。 I couldn’t connect with Emilia。 She made dumb, rash decisions and and didn’t question things in a way that made sense。 I couldn’t cheer for her because she wasn’t likable or relatable。 I wanted so much more from her and wrath, and it never happened, and what little did seemed way too forced and even a little random。 The writing and descriptions we great though。 I didn’t love this story, but the author is talented! 。。。more

This is a SOLID 4。5 for me and it pisses me off to no end that we can't actually give 。5 stars on here, 'cause it sure deserves it in this case。This was one of those book that starts slowly and softly, without it being too boring, and that has a slow but solid ascent all the way to the end。 It was just a direct line going up。 There was no bump to it, it was just a perfect flow of what a good read should be。 You just don't have any time to possibly get bored with the tale because it just keeps on This is a SOLID 4。5 for me and it pisses me off to no end that we can't actually give 。5 stars on here, 'cause it sure deserves it in this case。This was one of those book that starts slowly and softly, without it being too boring, and that has a slow but solid ascent all the way to the end。 It was just a direct line going up。 There was no bump to it, it was just a perfect flow of what a good read should be。 You just don't have any time to possibly get bored with the tale because it just keeps on building to the ultimate climax, and leaves you on a cliffhanger - even better。It makes me want to run and get the second one right away, and them demons sure don't hurt either。 Wrath is all kinds of yummy and i love how Emilia comes into her own as the woman she was meant to be。 Yassss, this worked perfectly。 Brava! 。。。more

I had trouble deciding between a two/three star rating。I did enjoy this book, but thinking about it now there were a lot of things that I didn't like or thought should have been different。 Pros- I liked the magic system, wish it had been expanded on more- I liked Wraith- I liked Emilia for the most part, she did make some very questionable decisions but it did propel the plot forward so that was fine。 Cons- This book is a very clear set up for the series, and unlike some setup's it kinda left me I had trouble deciding between a two/three star rating。I did enjoy this book, but thinking about it now there were a lot of things that I didn't like or thought should have been different。 Pros- I liked the magic system, wish it had been expanded on more- I liked Wraith- I liked Emilia for the most part, she did make some very questionable decisions but it did propel the plot forward so that was fine。 Cons- This book is a very clear set up for the series, and unlike some setup's it kinda left me unsatisfied with the ending。- There was a point where Emilia had to make a jump character-wise and I didn't understand how she got from point a to b。- The 'bad guy' was pretty easy to spot- The romance itself wasn't a slow burn, it was non-existent。 - The first 20/25 percent of the book could have been scrapped, the pacing of this book was super off。 If the first part was told via flashbacks or through Emilia just remembering things it would be a lot better pacing wise。 And after that it still had issues with pacing, quite slow, not much happening but Emilia not doing much thinking either。 If you are into YA fantasy definitely give this a read, I don't think it was horrible, just not really for me。 。。。more

Amusing enough。 More world-building wouldn’t hurt because I still don’t know in which time period in Sicily the book is set; I suppose it isn’t modern times given the behaviour of some characters。 Emilia is utterly dumb for 98% of the book。 And reckless and somehow always escapes without a scratch。 Wrath is the typical broody dark-haired love interest instead of an interesting personification of a sin。 At least he was partly amusing。2 stars because the dishes made me crave Italian food。

I wasn't sure I was going to like this story as much after reading the first hundred pages, it felt slow and not as daring and adventurous I thought it would be, I guess。 I just had a lot of expectation for this book, which kind of had me doubting it in the start。 However, as the book continued the spice came。 I was surprised by some of the twist and turns, others were expected for me, but it sure is different。 I love the main characters。 And even though Wrath is someone you can't trust fully, I I wasn't sure I was going to like this story as much after reading the first hundred pages, it felt slow and not as daring and adventurous I thought it would be, I guess。 I just had a lot of expectation for this book, which kind of had me doubting it in the start。 However, as the book continued the spice came。 I was surprised by some of the twist and turns, others were expected for me, but it sure is different。 I love the main characters。 And even though Wrath is someone you can't trust fully, I still have hope for him and Emilia。😆 。。。more
